At HRMWEB our mission is to assist businesses to better manage their workforce – that’s because we believe that people are a business's most important asset. Now we give you the opportunity to find out a little more about the people who work at HRMWEB.
This month you can meet our Senior Developer, Michael Alexander.
What is your work/study background?
I completed a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Japanese and Linguistics) at ANU and am on my final year of a Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) at UNE. I have been working with computers since I was very young and have been writing software for around 20 years.
What were you doing before you came to HRMWEB?
I worked as a contractor inthe public service within IT support,as well as pursuing contract software development work before coming to HRMWEB.
Why did you come to work for HRMWEB?
I wanted to work in software development in a small to medium business, where I would be challenged by a wide range of problems from both inside and outside of software development. I wanted to work for a dynamic team that would let me harness my skills in the ways I see most effective, with a focus on quality.
What’s your favourite thing about working at HRMWEB?
I get to work in an environment that provides me with flexibility and the opportunity to be a part of many sides of the business, which is something I really enjoy. We have a very strong team and everyone gets along really well; not only is it a challenging and interesting place to work, but it is also a lot of fun working in the team that we have here.
Favourite instance of seeing easyEMPLOYER helping a customer?
I love it whenever I go to a business or shop in my free time and realise they are using eE for staff management. It's a great feeling to know that work that I do is helping to support their business.
You use eE like our clients do. As a “staff” user what’s your favourite thing about eE?
My favourite thing about eE is the new availability week view. You highlight the times of the week that you are available and click submit, very quick and easy to do.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Apart from computers and programming, I watch and play a lot of sport and love to travel. I also collect German-style board games and love to play them with friends over a few beers.
